Allah De stood for excellence in journalism, says Oshiomhole Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has described the late Alhaji Alade Odunewu who died at the age of 85 as a consummate journalist who stood for excellence in the journalism profession. In a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Peter Okhiria, Comrade Oshiomhole said “Allah De, as he was fondly called, was a true journalist in the true sense of the word and he helped shaped the nation’s modern journalism as practised today. “His journalism history which saw him rise from a reporter, to sub-editor, to columnist, to Editor before eventually becoming Editor-in-Chief and CEO, a journey which saw him pass through several newspapers is a story hewed in hard work, perseverance and excellence. “Allah De will not only be missed by his family and friends in the journalism profession, but by all of us who had the privilege of reading his columns, some of which remain relevant even in today’s Nigeria. “While I commiserate with his family, the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria, the Nigeria Guild of Editors and indeed the who media family, I pray God to grant the deceased eternal rest in his bosom and his family the fortitude t bear the loss.”
