Allah afflicts some of His slaves with calamity in order to reform them, because had He guarded them [against it] they would have become oppressive: { وَلَوْ رَحِمْنَاهُمْ وَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِمْ مِنْ ضُرٍّ لَلَجُّوا فِي طُغْيَانِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ } “And even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly.” [Al-Mu’minūn 23:75] يُنزل الله البلاء على بعض عباده ليُصلحه، لأنه لو عافاه لطغى (ولو رحمناهم وكشفنا ما بهم من ضر للجوا في طغيانهم يعمهون)
