Alledged for Clearing by Buring in Abdya, PT. DPL Faces Criminal Trial ACEHTERKINI.COM | Palm oil plantation company PT. Dua Perkasa Lestari (DPL) in Aceh Barat Daya (Abdya) was criminally charged by the Provincial Police of Aceh through the Attorney Office of Aceh Barat Daya District. “The trial of PT. DPL’s case starts on Tuesday (14/10/2014),” said the District Prosecutor, Fahmi SH to acehterkini. He explained that the crime case involving this palm oil company alleged for clearing by burning of peatlands within its plantation area was trialed at the District Court of Tapak Tuan in the District of Aceh Selatan (South Aceh). “The extent of the fire is predicted to cover approx. 1,000 ha. Defendant in this case is one of the company’s manager named Mujiluddin,” said Fahmi. The first session on Tuesday (14/10/2014) was the announcement of the charges. The Leading Judge in this trial was Rahma Novatiana SH, who is certified for environmental cases and was dealing with both civil and criminal case involving PT. Kallistsa Alam and PT. SPS-2 at the District Court of Meulaboh, also related to clearing by burning by both companies. Rahma Novatiana was assisted by Azahry Prianda SH and Khairu Rizki SH. The defendant was assisted by his legal counselor from Jakarta. Prevously, the Province Prosecutor of Aceh delivered to defendants in this case of PT. DPL. One of the defendant on behalf of the company was the Director, who fell ill, so that the case had to be ceased. “His file has been returned to the Provincial Police,” said Ali Akbar. As for the defendant Mujiluddin, one of the manager PT. DPL, the file has been handed over to the District Court of Tapak Tuan by the District Prosecutor of Blang Pidie in Aceh Barat Daya. [khu]
