Allgäu-Orient Rallye “One of the last exciting automobile adventures” The Allgäu-Orient Rallye is a unique and exciting motor sport adventure crossing borders, combining a challenging journey with a goal for tolerance, social involvement and contribution to people and community. This 24 day, self-driving motor rally begins in Germany and ends in Jordan . Some of the rally “rules”: The cars must be 20 years old or more (or less than €1,111 Euro) Self-navigation without GPS, or any other technical devices Use of toll roads or highways are forbidden Accommodations can be camping, sleeping in the cars or in hotels not exceeding €11 euro per night ….. The rally is made up of: 111 teams 333 cars 666 people and spans across 6,666 kilometers providing amazing experiences and memorable adventures. Registration for the rally ended after three minutes and 20 seconds. One can only guess as to the extent of the waiting list…. Its a wild and unforgettable experience attracting people of all ages from all over the world, the young in spirit and the adventurers, where all are connected by a mutual desire to travel the world and maintain the spirit of the rally. The Allgäu-Orient Rallye started as a crazy idea 10 years ago, and today it is one of the biggest, most sought after races in the world. This is a race that anyone and everyone can take part in. The Rally receives a great deal of media exposure. In Europe the newspapers follow the rally closely and track its progress. Films about the Rally appear on various television networks. The Rally route is based on guide books provided by each country leading the participants via clues and puzzles to the next rendezvous point with challenging tasks along the way including special missions within the local communities. This year we collected countless kilos of rice along the way which we left in refugee camps on the border with Syria. We distributed school bags, sports shoes and other supplies to the earthquake victims and refugees in Turkey. The Rally contributed 600 musical instruments to the Conservatory in Turkey and wheelchairs were contributed to an orphanage in Bethlehem. We provided equipment and games to a Youth Centre established through the support of the rally in one of the villages in Jordan. Finally, the Rallys flagship project supports hearing aid transplant surgeries for deaf infants and children and we were privileged to meet several of these children who underwent this surgery and are today are able to hear and speak. The Allgäu-Orient Rallye is a non-political organization whose principles are based on openness, freedom, friendship, and communication between countries and people. The AOR supports the development of cultural projects, encouraging social involvement, helping others and all this with a combination of adventure and fun for the Rally participants. The main countries which the Rally pass through are : Germany-Turkey- Israel- Jordan. In 2014 a team made up of six Israeli women participated in the Rally for the first time (“The Israel Rally Queens”) driving side by side with the Jordanian and Turkish teams.
