Allow me to vent for a moment... I dont know why it took me nearly a month to publicly speak my mind about this, but I guess it struck a nerve the other day how offended I am by the NFLs recent public service campaign, in which Hollywood celebrities like Courteney Cox, Amy Poehler & Ice-T, speak about the silence and the myths behind domestic violence. The Public Service Announcement campaign, titled No More, began running last month and have been a featured part of NFL programming each of the past few weeks. I understand the negative glare of the spotlight that the NFL has been put under as a result of recent incidents involving athletes like Ray Rice, Ray McDonald, Greg Hardy, etc., but I also cannot help but feel offended that we as a society still need to be reminded that it is wrong for a man to hit a woman. Im clearly not the target audience for these PSAs, but because Im a viewer of the NFLs games, Im lumped in with a segment of the populace that has to be told how inappropriate these actions are.
