Alma Clerk and Treasurer to Be Appointed in Future The Village of Alma has reverted a previous ordinance governing how the Village Clerk and Village Treasurer are selected. Under the new ordinance, the Village Clerk and Treasurer positions will be appointed, rather than elected. Mayor Russell Swift says that this gives Alma the flexibility to appoint treasurers or clerks that may not live within village limits. Swift says it also provides continuity and ensures that not all of the villages administrative positions are up for re-election at once. Clerks and treasurers would still have to be approved by a majority of the Village Board. The ordinance passed on a unanimous vote. The village also set its trick or treat day. Halloween Festivities will take place on Oct 31st at the Alma park between 6 and 8 pm.
