Almost 20 years ago to the day my father left this world. He was not my natural father but my adoptive father, the only father I remember. Harold (Harry) Frederick Grove. He was the son of a very well-to-do Auckland family, but he chose the simpler life - he became a farmer - in those days very simple! Dad, you taught me patience, empathy, sympathy, love! You taught me phrases like "Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy wealthy and wise" - I think times have changed yet I have held that line close. I will always remember you claiming wild flowers from around the farm to present to mum on your arrival home after a gut busting, long, sweaty day on the farm. She always melted - I remember! You taught me well Harry. My wish would have been your being here still to witness your grandchildren (albeit late on my behalf) being raised with you and mums morals, patience, empathy, sympathy, Love!
