Almost Home would like to present Day 5 of our 10 Days of Thanksgiving. As you read through our stories, please remember that none of these stories could happen without your donations. Your donations help with vet bills, food, medication, training and socialization, etc. Every single donation helps. Almost Home is a No-Kill shelter. Many shelters have a timeline of how long an animal is kept before being euthanized. Depending on age, health and temperament, this can range from 3-30 days. At Almost Home, our animals will receive TLC every single day until they are adopted. To make your tax deductible donation, please go to: almosthomeanimals.org/help-us/donate/ Gage was a larger dog that came to the shelter after being abandoned by his owners. Not much was known about Gage before he arrived although he was slightly apprehensive of men, its very possible he was abused by a man which led to his fear. The staff and volunteers were sad Gage wasnt getting adopted and felt some special training might help him. Gage entered an off-site training and socialization program that works with Almost Home for training purposes. Our volunteers take several of our dogs each week to help them get over their fears, learn how to play with other dogs as well as work on their manners. Gage was a great student with such an enthusiasm to learn! He bonded very quickly with the male trainer and loved to play catch with him. His favorite part of training was swimming and playing with the other dogs. After a few months in training, a special woman came into Gages life. Jill had read about Gage on Facebook and just couldnt get him out of her mind. She decided to come and meet him and the rest is history! After being overlooked for so long, Gage had finally found his forever home. He loves to keep close to his new mommy and sigh contentedly while resting his head on her knee. It turns out he just needed some special training to learn some basic commands and training. Jill took a chance on Gage and his life couldnt be more perfect! The sweet boy will never have to spend another day in a kennel wondering if anyone would ever love him enough to take him home. Jill said, I cant thank you enough for Gage. Gage is part of our family now because of you and your volunteers refused to give up on him!
