Almost forty years ago I was diagnosed with fibromyositis, which, at the time, was considered a malingerers disease by employers. Over the next forty years I developed degenerative joint disease and spinal stenosis. A rheumatologist once asked me if Id been an athlete because my MRI showed that type of degeneration. That brought laughter- I told her I was a nurse. My job ruined my back. And now, retired, I deal with the pain. An epidural with lidocaine and steroid had been discussed but I turned it down - now those injections are considered ineffective. So I suffer with the pain. Today is one of the bad days.
