Almost four years ago, the ban on travel and immigration for HIV-positive people was lifted. It was in place for over 20 years, separating immigrants from their loved ones -- particularly gay men, whose marriages were not yet recognized as grounds for admission. The difficulty and stigma that people living with HIV already undergo was compounded by a discriminatory law. On January 4th, 2010, the ban was finally lifted, changing the lives of thousands. Immigration Equality worked hard to help end it. We continue to advocate for an end to discrimination against LGBT people in our immigration system. Stand with us: imeq.org/20
