Aloha! I have a question that pertains to restoring natural surfaces after they have been cleaned of graffiti tagging. I believe this ties into natural and cultural conservation as we trying to preserve surfaces like cliffs and trees from human damage. The pictures below show our cleanup of Pride Rock on Kaiwa Ridge (Lanikai Pillboxes). We do plan on a follow-up cleaning to remove the remaining paint residue from the environment. After the follow-up cleaning, are there any acceptable methods for encouraging the faster re-growth of organisms like lichen that inhabit these rocks, both for restoration purposes and aesthetic deterrence of re-tagging? My germ of an idea comes from this article: boredpanda/the-coolest-and-possibly-most-illegal-diy-project-ever-but-the-end-result-is-brilliant/ The other idea I wanted to explore, if applicable, is an endemic plant garden along the rock wall to both restore the original flora and deter re-tagging. Thank you for your time.
