...Along came a spider, and sat down beside her.... Adapted from an email from by beloved guru: When looking at a spider web, what is it that you see? Do you see an unsightly cobweb? Or the beautiful work of art that has been spun with fine strands of silk? While most of us must admit that we do not see the latter when gazing upon a spider web, the feminine energy of spiders should remind us that we each have the innate ability to weave our lives into works of art, ripe with purpose, strength, and beauty. Whether or not you have a fear of spiders, attempt to look beyond their worldly appearance and embrace the spiritual message their very existence is trying to convey. For example, in many Native American traditions, Spider Medicine symbolizes creativity, as the spider’s eight legs represents the four Winds of Change and the four directions of the Medicine Wheel while her body is representative of the infinite possibilities of the Infinity Wheel. According to this tradition, the spider is also responsible for weaving not only a means of communication via the written word, but also, the intricate patterns of our lives. ...So, the next time you happen across a spider, consider the infinite possibilities of messages that she is attempting to convey to you. Is she trying to remind you that anything is indeed possible? To create the life or future of your dreams? Or perhaps she is reminding you to be mindful of your patterns, the webs that you unwittingly weave, and the things that you tend to capture and bring into your life in doing so.
