Along with all of the ALS ice bucket challenges that have been - TopicsExpress

Along with all of the ALS ice bucket challenges that have been shown on Facebook, there is also a game thats being played. One of your Facebook friends will post a comment that might seem a little strange. You respond to that comment, or LIKE that comment, and then you are tagged and have to post a comment of your own. I remember when it happened to me. A friend posted something, and it sounded like that person was in distress. I responded, only to receive a message stating that youre it and that I had to post a message of my own (choosing a response from a list of acceptable responses). I was angry about that...here I responded to what I thought was a heartfelt cry for help only to find out that it was a game. Remember the childrens story of the boy who cried wolf? It reminded me of that...what if that was a legitimate cry and I didnt respond, thinking it was just a game? Years ago, while I was working for Prudential Insurance, I attended a diversity training seminar. In the class, the instructor talked to the class about jokes. He said something that has stuck with me for over 20 years: Know the people that you are talking to. If you think that the person may not want to hear that joke, dont say it. I think the same is true for these Facebook games. If you think the listener may not want to hear your joke or play your game, then dont invite them. Me? I love playing games and telling jokes, but honestly, my life is so busy right now that I dont have the time. Between my work at the post office and at church, coupled with my family time, I am quite busy. Dont get me wrong, I love to laugh and love to play games when I have the time, but there are other things going on that are more important in my life. Friends, focus on whats important, and thats eternal life in heaven. Amen. ~John Lloyd~
