Alot of the music was really interesting oakie, almost much more - TopicsExpress

Alot of the music was really interesting oakie, almost much more cerebral and felt at the same time, certain parts , very noticeable to me , was like a hard trance or psy trance beat blocked out in sound, like more traditional synths and arpeggios blocked into a blocks of sound, which was Very interesting to me, its like photoshopping or 3d Modelling a sound or beat. And the wild explosive swings much into the set , well reminded me of Andy Cs High groove style from last recent yrs, explosive, so explosive in swing. But the obvious difference to Progressive Trance, was the absence of the Anthem, qualities of sound that become Anthems, that of course older trance was a big thing that made TRance what it was. And it is interesting to Not have that quality, to not have the Anthem, definitely very very experimental in terms of the genre. But i, myself, in having played with that same sound with feed and muffle in simple forms in electronica programs, I know that if you could that style and made it more repetitive and just overload the feed and control it with cut-offs, (i used samples from Prodigy in these loops), I know that reverbed muffled sound can Easily become an Anthem with with turning up the feed and controlling the cut-offs and volumes, but of course oakie your whole set was much more complex than anything i ever did with the sound, and you Chose not to have the traditional buildups and Anthems of trance, but its is Interesting, very interesting , that the music becomes like a sketch of sorts, which you are drawing sounds, walls of blocked beats, exactitudes of many many changes that almost blur beyond memory of such sounds. The lights i thinkworked for that small space last night, i dont know if itd work as well at the Avalon, the single 2 sources of light from either side, and i will say the most intense moment in lightwork for me when it was no longer just lines, but planes being created, the part with the green and blue alters fields of laser, and the many points programmed in shifting suquence in the planes for example, really minimally different. I did have problem with more say the high bpm eletrobass, i know theres purpose for that , maybe bringing these damn new techno fans to life by feeling that beat thru their entire body,( id hate to use the term ravers), but ...oakie, it doesnt affect them. lol. In older terms, they are Disaffected. And i done noisecore and hardcore sets so i know the similarity of that pounding electrobass to noisecore outros and hardcore techno, or say really in similar to Alec Empires new Atari Teenage Riot sound, in high bpm, but without say speedy hi-hats or cymbals. I almost wanted to hear that electro-bass more Electrodubby, cuz it wasnt dubby enough, or blurrier or Something, or juggled in Rhytm somehow or more off beat like the old raved out Party start style or way deep in the party style youd do in large arenas and stadium shows. And honestly i think that high bpm electro bass worked ok in a small venue the place was last night, because you could feel it pounding all the way thru your body in that small space, its curious whether much larger clubs youd get that same effect with the pounding muffle, or maybe it would sound more Analog or something im thinking. Im really gonna see if i can make that Avalon show next Saturday oakie, it beings a really interesting point in the physicality of sound, this new style, with the more almost digital drawing of so many different types of beats, sooo interesting. Maybe not as danceable a lot of it, but i hope to hear the style in cd album form, its reminent of a lot of high form German hardstyle, the really avante garde almost perfect forms of german techno, or some elements of older german trance and german trance producers, the heavier aspects of it, explosiveness in certain parts like Drum and bass, but with the beats or snares blocked out in sound, sounds, production, or distortionas pure techno, not even reference gabber or hardcore though so similar in exactness, difficult to see live even how you were accomplishing all the changes in time oakie , the many many many many types of walls of beats in so many combinations, one change after another, one phase of experience in time after another, the actualites of the sound, so intriguing in harmonic qualities way way out and such, but like i said other producers or a small guy like me may have come upon the same sound in the past, but no one has taken that exact sound to that level of complexity and changes and such, or to control it as well, or draw variation after variation as well. I could tell you had full control of the exactness of every part of that music oakie, all the layers, second after second in time, like a palette, there was no struggle in wielding the sound persay, it was accomplished easily watching you live, everything , in full control of every little detail, walls in sound like one painting or drawing, done in full exactness( Im going on in description of it like Maurice Merleau Ponty describing Perception, lets say). A Significant form in new music, maybe not aestheticly perfect, but rooted in interest to the viewer, true to say Donald Judds famous essays defining Minimalism, as form for interest rather than traditional definitions of beauty of definitions of Art being merely about beauty). And different, very different than loud blast traditional minimal house and techno, visually artisticly, not the same thing at all, almost more rooted in garage or say old sounds of Bassbins or Rabbit in the moon, or Trons acid techno B-sides.... but much faster and harmonically driven. Id really like to hear it, in cd album form in an audiophile sound system, almost. i would imagine it in harmonic similar to inextricable jazz and jazz fusion vinyls in sound and high harmonic style.
