Alot of times when I have a Capicu Culture event, I try to invite our artists that made it... Rosie Perez, John Leguizamo and Rosario Dawson. I have no idea if they receive word lol but I do know that Rosie and Rosario have definitely heard of us. I send it their way because I consider them important parts of our Nuyorican Arts diaspora which also embodies all of the other Latin@ communities in New York City. Look at their collective body of work... they fought long and hard to include us in mainstream culture. My dream is that they look at what we do, including our newest project #LaSopaNYC: The School of Poetic Arts that seeks to empower emerging and current artists by building their skill sets through artistic development and social marketing, and they lend some weight to the generations on the come-up that also admire their work via a co-sign, sponsorship, a nod in our direction... encouragement! I write this here, because I know the power of putting a dream out into the universe and having it become reality... thats exactly how we built Capicu. Elevacion!
