Alright - I gave you the week-end off, now its time to get back to my ranting and attempts to provide some political education. Just 8 days to the election. THE SYSTEM IS RIGGED There is some truth in that assumption, but it’s not so much because the system is rigged as it is the system is managed by the wrong people. Once again, the facts will show that it is a lack of involvement from WE THE PEOPLE that creates the illusion we are powerless and our election choices are really in the hands of big business. Here again, you have to look at the facts behind an election to really understand what is happening. Since the late 70s, nearly 80% of incumbent senators win their re-elections bids and almost 90% of House members are able to retain their seats during the re-election process. This is because big money follows success and big contributors almost ALWAYS pump more money into an incumbent’s campaign than they do the campaign of a new challenger. Surprisingly, the next biggest chunk of money will go to an up-and-coming candidate, running for an open seat, where the incumbent has quit or retired. Very little money from the big PACs, labor unions, or large individual donors goes toward new challengers when they are running against a sitting representative. They would rather play the odds than gamble on a new challenger. Remember - more than 80% of todays campaign funding comes from these large money organizations - NOT the people who go to the polls. So once again, our election choices are being influenced by big money, our lack of participation, and a general disrespect for constitutional preservation. A minimal amount of investigation shows clear evidence and a profound need for WE THE PEOPLE to get more involved, more educated and start pulling a few more greenbacks out of our wallets to contribute to those new candidates that show commitment to our constitutional republic. If we really want to get rid of people like Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Sheila Jackson, Barbara Boxer, and the other nut-jobs running our country – we need to provide more funding to new challengers who understand a seat in congress in a privilege, not a launching pad for a new career. Remember – if we all gave just $50 of our hard-earned money to our candidate of choice instead of McDonalds, we could provide as much as $11-Billion toward changing the election process and putting elections back into the hands of the people, instead of the hands of big business. It’s not too late – contribute a few dollars now DIRECTLY to your candidate of choice.
