Alright...3 reasons why were not blacking out. Those that are blacked out probably wont see this unless they see sneak peeking lol, but if youre a friend...tell a friend...k lol. 1) Social Media is more than entertainment fodder to me. Its a job. Yep, I get a check, or two, or three. Ive built a #business that includes #socialmedia. So saying that this isnt going to cost any money, yes it is. If you dont understand how to get paid to be on social media, we have a workshop coming up in January, educate yourself. If you dont want to know, and just want to spend your time on a BILLION dollar medium just giving up your keystrokes for FREE, then remain in ignorance. I wouldnt go to anyones job, ask them to put a black bag on their head, and not speak to someone for 24 hours. Not a teacher, not a warehouse worker, not a customer service agent, not a delivery man, not a professional student (cause if you living off of student loans, professional student is your title) and not even a burger flipper. So if you dont have $5 on my mortgage or Georgia Power bill...carry on...as will I. 2) Blacking out does not hurt FB. Let me say it again. Not posting for 24 hours will not hurt FB & advertisers. FB runs on algorithms. You dont have to post anything for them to regurgitate your s#!€. Advertising works on impressions and clicks. The majority of FB is accessed mobily. You dont see those ads. And how many black folks are clicking and buying from ads on FB? Seriously...like I said...we have a social media workshop that can educate you on how the game is played. If you really wanna hurt FB, deactivate your account and let it go dormant. But youre not going to do that. 3) Lastly, we are not blacking out because during the time #Prisonworld was booming and we had so many inmates reaching out to us, most wrongly convicted, we tried to rally out FB friends for help. All we needed was a book of stamps (less than $10) or a donation to help purchase stamps. We reached out to 100 masjids...we received 1 $25 donation. We have been in this fight a long time. All of those inmates were answered and helped and the cost came from our pockets. And now since its the popular thing to do to make a statement, everyone is hopping in the band wagon. Sorry. We have been here when the cameras were not. We will be here when the dust clears. If nothing else, we are consistent. And what will happen, which will be more of a lasting statement, we are going to put the pen to the paper and write Attorney General Eric Holder and also the Chiefs of Police of Ferguson & NY. If more people did that, and voted, we truly believe, things would change. Thats our take on it. You can agree or disagree, but it is...what it is.
