Alright, Blood-C is completed as well as Blood-C: Last Dark and the Blood Franchise that included Blood + and Blood: The Last Vampire is taking a different view now with Clamp taking it over. The plot, we focus on Saya Kisaragi who seems to be a happy, clumsy, and simple high school girl who lives in a shrine with her only family member, her father. She is often late to classes because she gets side-tracked by helping people or cute animals on her way to school. She has a tight-knit group of friends and they have fun times together. However, her true purpose is revealed in the night when she is tasked with eliminating Ancient Ones (Beings that devour humans and take various ferocious forms) with her Sacred Blade that her father entrusts to her on certain nights. Saya takes on a vicious persona to fell such beasts and her blade skill is immense but she keeps this a secret from everyone except her father to maintain the peace. So enough plot, I will warn you now, this is a violent, gore-fest anime with a lot of various plot points thanks to our friends at Clamp... Anyone who knows of their works such as Card Captor Sakura, xxxHolic, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, and many others... they are all linked into a huge multiverse and often blend ideas into one another with character cameos, concepts, goals, and even the wish plot point. This anime took ideas from the Blood franchise but this Saya is completely different from the non-Clamp predecessors, in fact, it is believed that the C in Blood-C is for Clamp to distinguish this fact. I may be giving away too much already but given that Blood-C is a fairly new addition to Clamp, I think this means that some classics are getting a revamp soon. Anyway, back to Blood-C, I love the direction that this Anime took, it is brutal and I dont say that lightly, this takes the concept of humanity and its limitations and ideology and practically puts every flaw of ego onto a chopping block. For example, before you kill an animal for meat, do you consider its feelings about the situation? Ancient Ones basically just want a hamburger but humans are the meat... I love that idea, No mercy, no limits, no compassion from the aggressors, unlike the bad guys you see in anything else from other shows, it is sad really that censorship ruins the villain in film or shows. This is a horror/fantasy/action Anime and Clamp has upped its game for this one, it is growing and branching out and I could not be happier. You may notice I included the movie as well but did not say much... the reason is because if you hear anything about it first then it is automatically a spoiler. I hope to see this become so much more in the Clamp Multiverse of Anime. Until the next one.
