Alright! Finally time to get back at it! I have 2 for today, both political, but nothing too out there. NC Politics Yesterday our president told the truth. Which is why that was my first sentence of the day. That is a newsworthy accomplishment…for him. He told the American people (via Al Sharpton’s radio show), that his feelings were not hurt because Senate Democrats didn’t want him to show up to “help” in their campaign, telling them “do what you need to do to win.” Then he went on to tell Sharpton, “but these folks (Senate Democrats) are folks who have voted with me in Congress. They support my agenda in Congress.” Yes. Yes, Mr. President, they sure do. Ants marching to the Queens beat. After I got back from vacation a couple weeks ago, the political ads started piling up. It’s election season after all, so naturally, the candidates need to start spending millions of dollars on their lies leading up to voting day. After watching all of the soap opera-like commercials, I went digging to find some truths. I have heard Kay Hagan claim that she co-sponsored a bill that intended to save students money on their student loans. The bill she is referring to (S.2292 Bank on Students Emergency Loan Refinancing Act) is the bill she is referring to. According to GovTrack (which, among other things, seeks to find the chances of proposed bill being passed by a given committee or chamber), stated that her bill had less than a 1% chance of passing her committee and a 0% chance of passing either chamber…ahhh, taxpayer money…at work??? Here are some other truths about Kay Hagan: -chose fundraiser over national security meeting (chose to skip more than half of those in fact) -complicit in passing of and disastrous implementation of Obamacare -voted “yes” to $800 billion stimulus package that you and I didn’t get much use out of, but her husband’s company sure got a nice little $390,000 chunk of that money…which he then used to contract with his son so that the money stayed in the family (gee, can’t imagine why Hagan would want a stimulus package) To: big business From: taxpayers Signed: Hagan (and every other Senate Democrat) -did not show up for the final debate last night (even though her schedule clearly indicates that she had more than enough time to finish her daily appointments, have a nice meal and still make the debate on time) It’s true that Thom Tillis spent taxpayer dollars fighting gay marriage (a horrible thing in my opinion, which will be the subject of the following post). It is also true that he is a proponent of toll roads (although I can’t understand why that is a negative thing). Just about everything else I have seen that attacks Mr. Tillis is either an expensive lie, or a difference in ideology that is being attacked simply because it’s different (not necessarily because it is something incorrect, or a worse idea). Every single Democratic seat in this country shares Barack Obama’s ideology. They are all complicit in the stimulus spending that did you and I no good, but did a lot of good for some of the wealthiest corporations in America. They are all complicit in the implementation of the unconstitutional and incredibly ignorant socialized medicine experiment (note: they will also all be complicit WHEN taxpayers reimburse those health insurance companies for lost profits). I am not going to feel good about giving a vote to Thom Tillis. He’s not my cup of tea. But at least I’ll be able to sleep that night.
