Alright, I need pellet advice for my colt(Han Solo). Hes 6 months - TopicsExpress

Alright, I need pellet advice for my colt(Han Solo). Hes 6 months old, and he gets about 2lbs of Dyna foal, mare and foal pellets twice a day. They are normally soaked all day or all night so the pellets are complete mush by feeding time.. I worked this morning which lead me to be unable to make his pellets for this evening(Theyre are three of us that usually prepare the food while the others work, my mom, my sister and I). These pellets NEED all day or all night to soak, otherwise they are rocks! Since his pellets didnt really soak(maybe 30-40minutes) we had a bit of a scare. He ate to fast, didnt chew, and got a few stuck. With some neck muscle massaging we got them down though(The vet was on stand by just in case). So after that he got some soaked bermuda pellets, bran, and oil soup. He was able to drink his soup. Later I gave him his regular foal pellets after I mashed it up into wet mush(Which took a hour to do). After this ordeal I dont want to have anymore problems with rock pellets with a choking hazard. What I want to know is, are there any foal pellets out there that sponge up into mush within a few minutes, and dont require soaking all day?? Since Im not always around to make sure he gets squish food, I want to find something that I know will turn into oatmeal in minutes. This is for his own safety as I worry about him since he is a bit of a glutton and doesnt like to chew, he inhales without chewing. His regular daily feeding is the 2lbs of pellets with grass and bermuda hay twice a day. Im thinking of investing in the tiny bermuda pellets and adding a higher quality foal supplement grain to it? Any suggestions? ~HE WAS a rescued orphan colt as well, so getting weight on him originally was a little difficult, and he isnt the easiest keeper in the herd.~ Thanks so much for any help!
