Alright Im going to clear the air a bit on a recent(and ridiculous) study done based around a man who decided it would be a bright idea to derive all his carbohydrate intake purely from sugar sources, albeit healthy sources. As per usual, people are using this to bash iifym by stating See! a calorie isnt a calorie! You cant eat whatever you want! Lets start from the basics. iifym was an acronym created when people were discussing ️️Flexible dieting on forums. People would ask Can I have this? and people got tired of saying if it fits your macros and thus, the term iifym was born. However, it has now somehow become a new thing entirely separate from Flexible dieting. nowhere did anyone EVER state that you should eat burgers and pop tarts all day. That is NOT flexible dieting. Flexible dieting is where you track all your macronutrients AND micronutrients etc, filling up the majority of your daily calories with micronutrient rich options, followed by allowing for some room to work with to eat whatever you want, IF IT FITS YOUR MACROS. As a rule of thumb, most people follow a 80% clean food to 20% dirty food protocol, so most of your calories are made up of the same bro foods most bodybuilders eat, veggies and chicken etc, and then maybe a single meal that consists of say ice cream or something. We eat this way because it allows you to develop a healthier relationship with food. You dont experience the horrid cheat days people have because theyve cut out certain foods, making them crave and then binge when they eat them. THAT is how flexible dieting works. If you go and eat nothing but shit all day and wonder why iifym isnt working for you, it is because you went full potato, and i think we have thoroughly covered the dont go full potato rule on this page.
