Alright Ive seen enough ignorant posts about gay marriage. Heres the deal, people. The Constitution is the law of the land. We can all agree on that, correct? Okay, moving on. Now Im going to go out on a limb here and guess that some (if not most) of the people on my friends list are taking or have taken a Federal Government course of some sort. Now, if youve paid any attention whatsoever, you wouldve learned about how this lovely system of government works. Within this system, there lies the responsibilities of the Judicial branch, and even within that, the Supreme Court and its Justices. Are you still with me? Good. Now, their job is tough. If you werent aware, they are the ones who declare things either constitutional or unconstitutional. Now, they have years and years of experience and theyre extremely good at their job. If they declare that restricting marriage to just one man and one woman is unconstitutional, then so be it. Our founding fathers fled here from Europe out of religious persecution. They werent happy with the fact that religion dominated their everyday life and that they had little to no religious freedom. Do you not see it repeating itself? Who are Christians to force this is a sin and that is a sin onto potentially in religious people? Is that itself not EXACTLY what the pilgrims and founding fathers sought to escape? And yet here people are throwing sin around like they were given the right to judge others. Wait a second, did you read my last sentence? You heard right. If you declare yourself as a Christian, you arent supposed to be judging in the first place. Love thy neighbor, correct? Maybe think about that before you lay into someone for supporting love and equality. Stop using your religion as a weapon and start using it as a means to better yourself and learn to treat others with the same respect. I will honestly say that I should not have the power to restrict someones ability to express their love in a binding contract of marriage if they see fit. And guess what? Neither should you. The Federal government had to step in because the State legislation was deemed unconstitutional. Get over it already.
