Alright everyone listen up! We have another update for Tabletop Thursday! This week we are having a long line up of different but fun games so I wont be able to explain all of them or this post would be 3 miles long :) but of course i will give some of the notables coming this week. CIVILIZATION is a game of skill for 2 to 7 players. It covers the development of ancient civilizations from the invention of agriculture c. 8000 B.C. to the emergence of Rome around the middle of the third century B.C. Although battles and territorial strategy are important, this is not a war game because it is not won by battle or conquest. Instead, the object of play is to gain a level of overall advancement involving cultural, economic, and political factors so that such conflicts that do arise are a result of rivalry and land shortage rather than a desire to eliminate other players. Nomad and farmer, warrior and merchant, artisan and citizen all have an essential part to play in the development of civilization. It is the player who most effectively changes emphasis between these various outlooks who will achieve the best balance - and win. Now who doesnt like banding together, traveling through a dungeon, maybe losing a few of your friends on the way to uncover the great treasure that is at the bottom of this wonderful maze of death and bodies. TOMB pits opponents against one another in a game of monsters, traps, treasures, and spells. Attempts to capture the dungeon crawl experience without hours of preparation. Assemble a crack squad of adventurers and enter the fabled Goldenaxe Catacombs in search of glory and hidden treasure. With Tomb’s unique set-up and character recruitment, you’ll never play the same game twice. Recruit a Party. Kill the Monsters. Take Their Stuff! Listen up, ladies. Fiasco: A Game of Powerful Ambition & Poor Impulse Control is very much outside the realm of what we usually cover. It’s a two hour table game, but it has no cards, cardboard, winners or losers. It has almost no rules. But despite that, it’s perhaps the best game you’ve never even conceived of. All you’re paying for here is a very thin, very affordable book. And with this book, you and some of your friends are going to roleplay your evening away. And you’ll laugh like garbage disposal units doing it. Yes, roleplaying. As in, Dungeons & Dragons. The first two things you should know about Fiasco are: One, there’s no dungeon master. Everyone plays together. Two, Fiasco doesn’t simulate adventures. It creates hilarious, disastrous crime capers that will stick in your brain like chewing gum. For the rest of your life. We will also be playing some games on the side like Thunderstone Advance, Splendor, Pandemic, and Powergrid, just to name drop a few. But who knows what will happen until you come out and play these awesome games. Hope to see you here!
