Alright, for those of you who are interested in the social experiment I alluded to yesterday, here are your instructions. At some point in the next week, select a Pandora station based on an artist you thoroughly enjoy. Due to Pandoras tracking algorithm, this will only work if it is a new session, not an existing one. Once you have it up, follow these instructions. -Listen to this station for approximately 1 hour, give or take 5 minutes. During this session, I would like you to listen carefully and pay close attention to all lyrics in each song. -Every time a line or verse in a song evokes some form of emotional response, I want you to write down that line or verse (maximum 4 lines), the artist and song title, and in 20 words or less, I want you to describe what those lyrics mean to you. I want to know what they make you experience, or what they make you want to do in that moment, anything at all. Whatever your mind conjures because of those words, I want a basic description of what it is. -From each of you, I will need at least 3 of these sets of data, along with two other data points: your personal opinion on the intrinsic value of the last 6 months of your life (positive, negative, or neutral), as well as your personal outlook on the next 6 months of your life (optimistic, pessimistic, or neither). When you have finished your session, please message me with your data. Collected data will be for my eyes only, unless I find a verse and its emotional descriptor exceptionally profound, in which case I will share it anonymously along with my results at the close of the experiment.
