Alright, heres this thing. Lara Sumera, 21 most inspiring films (NOT NECESSARILY MY FAVORITE, though some are). It was supposed to be 15, but I cant. Also, 21 is a grown up number. There are some on this list (Titanic) that Im no longer filled with awe over, and others (Die Nibelungen) that continue to inspire; but each of them had a gigantic impact at one time or another. 1. Amelie [Jeunet can do no wrong] 2. Beauty & The Beast [favorite out of the Disney renaissance] 3. Die Nibelungen [every frame, a photograph] 4. Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde [Barrymores greatest performance] 5. The Fall [shot over 4 years in 20 different countries] 6. Glengarry GlenRoss [best male ensemble cast, EVER] 7. It’s a Wonderful Life [should be Americas national film] 8. Love [by William Eubank. Touching, sobering, and bloody gorgeous] 9. Metropolis [transfixed each moment] 10. Midnight in Paris [a romantics wet dream] 11. Pan’s Labyrinth [beauty, imagination, fear] 12. Paris Je T’aime [14 stories about love and Paris] 13. Requiem for a Dream [addiction is everything] 14. Silence of the Lambs [status and power masquerading as horror] 15. Spirited Away [remove reality, insert fantasy] 16. Star Wars [come on] 17. Synecdoche New York [what every philosophy student was waiting for] 18. There Will Be Blood [I will sing DDLs praises to the day I die] 19. Titanic [new era of film making] 20. Vertigo [the greatest film score in history. no overstatement] 21. Voices of a Distant Star [just emotionally devastating] Im looking forward to you, Benjamin
