Alright my loves, its been requested that I share a little bit from Book 3, To Free The Dragons Soul, so, at the behest of Ms. Frances Baker and Ms. Dana Marie, here you are. Enjoy!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “Move Kyleri,” he growled. She blinked at him. “What?” “I was not finished. Move.” There was a command in there she instinctively wanted to follow. But reason won out and she slowly shook her head. “No. He won’t be back.” Fyris didn’t look at all convinced. Wrapping his long fingers around her waist, he lifted her like she weighed nothing and set her to the side. Which wasn’t an easy feat in and of itself. Being a computer programmer, she’d become lazy in the last years and it showed around her middle. She hated the fact that she’d put on some extra weight, but just didn’t have the gumption to do anything about it. There was always some project or the next hack or some other thing to distract her from exercise. Not that she was proud of it, it just was. She wasn’t unhealthy, just fluffy. But that didn’t seem to be an issue for this man. He cupped a hand around her neck and his thumb stroked along her jaw. For a heartbeat, the red faded from his eyes, replaced with a soft orange and he smiled. “I know he will not be back. I will see to it.” He turned for the door and that same instinct kicked in. Grabbing his arm, she planted a foot against the wall. “Oh no you don’t. Let it go. He’s gone.” Her voice had a slight pleading in it she wasn’t sure she liked or not. “You don’t need to defend me.” The muscles under her fingers rippled and his other hand paused on the doorknob. He cut a look over his shoulder, that red blazing through his eyes again as they dropped to the throbbing bruise on her cheek. They slid to the darkening marks on her arm and clouded over. “He harmed you. It will not happen again.” His hand twisted on the knob and pulled open the door. Slamming her other foot against it, she managed to kick it shut again. Gramps!” Her Grandpa came down the hallway on the other side of the stairs, a bagel in one hand and coffee in the other. His still bright silver eyes took in the scene and he shook his head. Setting the cup and half-eaten pastry on the steps, he sighed. “Gone all Dragon on ya, has he lass?” She grunted, throwing her weight into her grip to hold Fyris in place as best she could. “I don’t know what he’s doing. Other than trying to get out the door and kill my Ex!” The man she’d spent many a Saturday being regaled by his tales of legends and myths, chuckled. With a meaty hand, he spun Fyris around and a haymaker out of somewhere in Florida followed, nailing him dead-center on the chin. The poor guy dropped like a sack of taters, out cold and she landed on her own considerable backside with an oomph. She looked up at the man she’d always trusted and snorted. “What the hell was that?” Tom Heegan squatted down, his gaze rolling from her to Fyris and back again, his dancing silver eyes amused. “Lass, he is a Dragon and from this reaction,” he jerked a thumb at the man in question. “I would say he thinks you are his Mate.”
