Alright, once again a big Mahalo for everyone that responded to last nights first in-stallment of Do you Hear What I Hear, a break down analysis of the songs I have been so fortunate enough to play for most of you throughout my musical career, spanning some 40 years in the 808 and abroad. Tonight I present you with acoustic guitar at its finest. Now remember that we focus on listening and how to define, when people say I dont read, music, I play by EAR. Ok, fine, but what does that really mean? I myself often wondered. Because I never read a note my whole life but still played hundreds of songs. So I decided to bring this question to the forefront with all interested, and maybe get that all illusive answer to how does one play by ear. Or, if not find the answer, than together I will help you out there to hear what I hear, so you will be able to play by ear. Ok, tonite, its acoustic guitar at its finest. As the lead guitarist for Heart Nancy Wilson broke down the boundaries between male and female rock guitar players. She along with sister Ann burst into the rock scene and never looked back. Their countless hits Barracuda, Straight On, and Dreams, to name a few, continue their popularity even today, some years after it was first released. Tonights song choice, is my all time favorite, especially the acoustic styling and smooth finger work of Nancy. Also, listen and watch when lead singer, sister Ann Wilson, makes her entrance to this hit tune, with precision timing, to take her place carrying the melody through her acoustic rhythm guitar, strumming a steady stroke of melodic cords to match the sound through a different set of cords that are lower based on the neck board, compared to Nancys cords up higher on the neck, there beautiful guitars made by the Martin co. Without further ado, Heart, with Dog and Butterfly.
