Alright so I thought I would post something about this. What is your opinion on the changes to the asylum seeker policy? I personally think that if people have come from a country through the wrong channels ( as in not applied to get into that country like every first world country expects ) and/or gone past other countries who can and do take asylum seekers on the way here they could be economic asylum seekers and Papua New Guinea would act as a deterrent for them as they wont receive the same economic benefits there. But I do think in the case of people fleeing their countries where Australia is the closest place to go we should be giving them a chance to live in our huge empty country. At the moment there is no distinction so just like other first world countries we will be turning them all away. I know this is just on the news to cover up fracking and mine expansions which is what we should be worrying about, but I just thought I would give my two cents.
