Alright yall. Before you laugh and or get upset (Girlies) with my new toy, you need to know the backstory. Ive always loved Mustangs because of my daddy. I was daddys girl when I was little and went everywhere with him (church, fishing, welding, running, etc.). At the time, I had an old 55 Oldsmobile my great-grandma had left. Daddy and I would tinker on it from time to time. I dont recall a particular conversation about Mustangs, I just know the idea came from him. When I grew up, I knew I would have Mustang. Preferably a classic red 67 convertible with black interior. I went through a phase of mint green and pink but it was always a 67 convertible. My first car was a light blue Ford Escort Pony. Though far from the Mustang, I promised myself it would it would grow up to be a Mustang someday. A few cars later, I bought a cheap dark blue 88 Mustang because it was the only car I could find that I could afford. I kept it long enough to find something more appropriate. At the time, it was just the Gz and me. As the Girlies grew older, I made plans to find an old beater for us to restore together. Time, money, resources, and opportunity simply didnt align so it wasnt meant to be. Well, that and it was my dream, not theirs. LOL Fast forward several years... Kristi knows all of this and has been trying to get me a Mustang for years. Again, opportunity, resources, etc.... It didnt matter because while the Gz were still around, we preferred the adventures and memories over any car. After Ali graduated HS Kristi started working to turn the van into a Mustang for me. I have been fighting this concept because it means they are truly grown and gone. A concept I simply havent been ready to grasp. Every time we discuss it, I find tons of excuses not to. The most recent excuse is, we need the van for when the grandbabies are here. Having said all of that, Kristi and some other folks have been talking cars for a couple of weeks. Between that and my current challenge of figuring out my next move (in the military), I guess it just felt right. Kristi was ready. Because about 20 minutes after I said we could test drive some cars, she sent me a pre-approval certificate from USAA and told me to build my dream car. We spent the next several evenings on the interwebs building my car. Kristi located a few USAA certified dealers and off we went. Lithia Ford in Fresno HOOKED US UP!!!!! We paid less for this car with more bells and whistles than the one I had built. They gave us more for the van than it was worth so we actually used it as a down payment. We paid well under the sticker price. Between that, the discounts, and 2.7% financing (USAA), they sure didnt make much off of us. Shes not my classic convertible, but she is a responsible (wont break down), more fuel efficient, beautiful, and fun version that happily fits the bill. Having said all of that, meet my newest girliemobile (generation 2). Bring on the new adventures!
