Als thought for today: Ebola? I recommend hot honey and lemon. Its difficult to find anything amusing about Ebola but as ever the great and good, in a vain effort to assure us that we should not panic have instituted controls at points of entry. I can verify this as on returning from my recent fact finding trip to Brussels and some chap roused himself from his reverie, thrust a bit of paper in my face and asked if Id visited the countries listed. I told him that I hadnt. Im quite sure that if Id said yes and added Ive got a really bad case of the chits. he would have handed me a packet of Imodium and hoped Id have a nice day. It seems that even if I were a nurse, returning from West Africa where Id been treating Ebola victims, even when more than half a dozen times, I had told the authorities I had symptoms of the virus, I would still be allowed to go on my merry way. Personally, I cant see that there is any method by which the general public can be protected but please credit us with a bit more intelligence than to con us into believing this is possible by some pathetic charade. This morning we had some proff lady minister assuring us that there is no problem. This may or may not be the case, no one and assuredly not the boffins have any idea. You may recall that in the 90s, scientists were showing us graphs which proved that by now, half the population would be minus their brains due to the impact of mad cow disease. I havent heard much about that lately. The Daily Express regularly reports that scientists have found a cure for death but I still see plenty of evidence to the contrary. Further more, we now know that we have an accurate 7 day weather forecast because the Met Office has told us so. However, when looking at the graphics on my TV screen, I reckon that if the jet stream shown is either one inch higher or one inch lower, all bets as to snow or gales are off as far as Sedgley goes. So lets all take this stuff with a pinch of snuff as eventually the snuff will take us all
