Also Byron-bound for the five-day Easter-weekend extravaganza will - TopicsExpress

Also Byron-bound for the five-day Easter-weekend extravaganza will be local legends the Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Declan Kelly performing Diesel nDub (with assistance from Emma Donovan, Alex Lloyd, Pat Powell, Radical Son and Tony Hughes), six-string-slinging workhorse Ash Grunwald, the evergreen Blue King Brown, veteran act The Beautiful Girls, the indomitable Steve Smyth, and renowned hat-clad troubadour Karl S. Williams - themusic.au veteran act ? haha geez, why so MEAN theMusic.au ?? youre being nasty again. pretty sure weve been around as long as most of those acts, give or take a little. ( it must be said though, what an amazing lineup of musicians - we are honoured to share an announcement with them ). is it because weve publicly said your website is a bit over corporatised and try-hard (and not very well written) ? do you not like us because we solely concern ourselves with building a community of loyal music lovers immune to the fickle fashion driven scene you thrive on ? what if nobody falls for artifice ? what will you do then ? do you feel mad at us because you want us to need you and love you and pay you and we dont ? do we not party with you guys enough or, in fact, ever ? are we not the thowaway next best thing that keeps sites like yours alive ? there must be a reason for all your veiled hostility but, veteran act ? we just dont feel right about accepting the description you have so creatively bestowed upon us because every single one of the acts on the whole Bluesfest bill deserve equal respect for putting in the miles and paying their dues. were all students of music and lifelong disciples. humbled by the immensity of the learning that has been laid out before us. we feel uneasy being singled out. were just getting started. it takes a lot longer than weve been around to even get out of beginner status in our estimation. however, this is yet another in a long line of snarky comments coming towards us from your direction. and we were raised to not be afraid of bullies, and to speak back to them. you dont define us, have never, will never. youre a small part of the music media who pretends to like an act publicly as long as they spend their advertising dollars with you. you help create a buzz if someone cant do it by themselves. every opinion you run with is tainted by either hipness or revenue, often both. either that or you just copy content from pitchfork you pretend to support music but, based on some of the content weve read on your site, your only motivation is to support yourselves. we get it, its a business. youre not alone, but youre noisy. anyhow, thanks for reading our feedback, but its best we leave the professional criticism to you guys and keep ourselves busy creating music. just so you know, we are totally cool if you dont mention us at all. you know the old saying about if youve got nothing nice to say ... well be ok. we sincerely hope we do actually, one day, get to earn our veteran status. good luck earning yours. The Beautiful Girls Musical Collective ( AKA a bunch of white and brown human beings playing reggae music from Australia in a super-deluxe heavy fashion ) ps, looking forward to our next album review !! pps, you got one thing right though- Ash Grunwald IS a six-string-slinging workhorse ! pps, MORE FIRE !
