Also born on this day in 1913 was American movie star Alan Ladd 1913. He was one of the most popular and well-known celebrities of the 1940s and the first half of the 1950s. In the beginning of his career he played dozens of small roles, like the newspaper reporter toward the end of “Citizen Kane”. He gained wide recognition from his role in 1942’s “Joan of Paris”, before going on to play in such films as “This Gun for Hire”, “The Glass Key”, “Lucky Jordan”, “Two Years Before the Mast”, “The Blue Dahlia”, and in the 1949 TV version of “The Great Gatsby” among so many more.
