Alternative Energy? Well here we are, coming into another - TopicsExpress

Alternative Energy? Well here we are, coming into another summer and once again the topic of choice has come around. Are you using your energy efficiently? What kind of energy consumption do you have in your home? Ever stop and count? Kind of frightening once you add it all up! Thankfully with todays technology we are starting to see more and more options becoming available for us the consumers. More options I am talking about alternatives of course. Why use electricity from a local utility if you dont have to. Everyone knows what kind of pollutants can come from big industry. Electricity from big industry needs big resources to produce and hence creates more pollution. And of course most of the electricity that we get today comes from companies who have been providing it for years. So the standards might be up to date but not necessarily the best thats out there. At least in my opinion. Ever felt like there must be another way? Gone as far as looking around for options or prices? I know just recently I have. It really is quite amazing what is available now a days for the average consumer. I find it amazing that solar panels are now readily available at pretty well all local hardware and tool stores. The price isnt bad either. Not quite where I would purchase just yet but getting close. Still, the cost on outfitting a home or business are enough that one has to stop and ask - Is it worth it? I dont have the answer to this but I think now that the public is starting to ask questions about global warming and the effects, people are starting to answer the question for themselves. Even governments are getting on board. With all the new rebate incentives and tax benefits being offered I know I am starting to ask the question! And yet some of the best options are still found on the net. If you have ever looked you know there are lots to choose from and pricing is pretty competitive. I know I have been watching prices for a while. I am waiting for the price to come down to about 4 to 5 bucks a watt. Still lookin though. If you have got some resources for solar power, wind power or water turbines I would sure appreciate sharing info. Hope to keep digging. Heres to a better way!
