Alternative ponytail ideas - Its that Friday feeling - If you have ever had long or shoulder-length hair, you can mostly appreciate how useful a ponytail can be. It keeps hair under control, of the face and can even hide greasy roots between washes. The trouble is, most of us tend to stick to the same old ponytail style for ease and the sheer speed at which it can be done. However, we think its a good idea to experiment with our favourite tried and tested styles so weve put together a few ideas to try. Whether you want something textured, sleek and/or job interview appropriate, theres bound to be a style in there for you! Do the [French] twist... An ultra-chic, classic style in its own right, the French twist looks great with a ponytail and its also pretty easy to achieve. Working with the top layers of hair, simply comb your hair to one side and pin into place. Then, smooth the hair on the opposite side back over the pins, rolling it into a kind-of banana shape. Secure with bobby pins and spray with strong hold hairspray for maximum hold. Get low A low pony is a really easy solution that can add a classy dimension to any outfit or work as a super relaxed updo. It works best with longer hair and can be styled messy or sleek, depending on what kind of vibe you want. For a messy, tousled look, use wave creating spray to add texture. Apply it liberally to damp or dry hair, twist a section and blow-dry the twist. Then, run your fingers through the twist to break it into loose waves. Repeat on the rest of your hair before re-spraying and scrunching with your hands to finish. After that, all you have to do is gather the hair into a low pony - side or regular - and secure with a hair elastic. Alternatively, straighten hair first and then gather into a ponytail for a polished, sleek look. Have fun x
