Although I am not a polytheist any more than I am a monotheist, I think that polytheism, the idea that an infinite number of entities throughout the vastness of the universe who share various remarkable qualities (i.g. omniscience, omnipotence,etc) is quite more likely than one single individual being capable of all of them in combination (and monotheism was a much later invention). There is no reason to believe in God to begin with but if one does believe in God, or at least accept the possibility of God, it does not make any sense to think there can only be one.
