Although I am very happy with the way elections turned out both locally and nationally, I am skeptical that any party can effectively govern in this bitterly divided country unless both parties are willing to compromise. It amazes me that comments from both the left and right are so vindictive and bitter - to remain that way will accomplish nothing. Although I hope I am wrong, I would be willing to bet that the Republicans will be as uncompromising and non-exclusive as the previous six years of Democratic rule. I hate to say it but Bozo Bill Clinton was right - its the economy, stupid -why dont all these politicians see that what ALL of America can agree on is good jobs and the freedom and opportunity to pursue them? Establish policies that create good jobs (restricting certain imports would create a demand that they be made here, etc). Place all emphasis on issues that unite people - not on those that divide. You dont hear it from the conservatives, but Ronald Reagan was actually pretty middle of the road on many issues and a realist, but his strength was in bringing people together and making them proud of our country and who we are. Stop worrying about who is right or left or wrong and just do what is best for the country!!!!!!!
