Although I hit Like (and now shared), I have to point out, it isnt so simple. If only it were. Contrary to popular belief, I feel that we (the USA) are not playing global police for grins and giggles. It is a sad and unfortunate fact that we must meddle in foreign affairs or risk letting rogue nations take control, or perhaps worse, the anarchy that has gripped northern Africa, Somalia in particular, with decades of bloodshed. Should we, the arguably most powerful nation on earth ignore the pleas of lesser nations for assistance? Even, or especially, when those pleas do not come from a recognized legitimate government? Yes, there are countless peoples the world over that dont care about us and havent asked for help but is that only because of the lies they have been fed, or ignorance of assistance we may provide? I dont have any easy answers and I suspect, there are none. As mere mortals we can only hope that those we elect to lead us do whats best for us *overall* even when it seems their choices countermand our personal desires in the short term. Short being relative when we speak of a nation and all its peoples, not simply specific individuals. The days of head in the sand xenophobia are long gone. To ignore another nation in peril is to imperil our own. We neednt micromanage other nations, nor should we even try. We should however, understand that if *we* dont pay attention, just like the ostrich, a predator *will* come along and part our body from our head with all that exposed neck dangling out there in the breeze.
