Although I was now back in Colorado after my roughly 1000mi detour - TopicsExpress

Although I was now back in Colorado after my roughly 1000mi detour to go check out the racing at Bonneville. I had absolutely no idea what to do from here. As I sat in my motel skimming over my maps, one name stood out, Aspen. Id always heard this mentioned in TV shows and movies so....might as well? Although I had mostly avoided the interstates I thought I would head there by the interstate with the possiblity of using backroads on the way back depending on time. As it turns out, the interstate there and Aspen itself was dead boring ! It was only as I was filling up in Carbondale, on the way out from Aspen, and met a rider coming the other way that my day really changed. I was filling up right at the fork where I could choose between taking the interstate back or the 133. While the 133 would add another hour onto my ride and also have me riding into the setting sun, it came highly recommended. As you can see from the photos, its not a decision I regret in the slightest. So, for what was to be a relaxing day-trip on a rest day, i ended up covering 350mi and topped it off with a great meal in a local brewery in Grand Junction with a new friend. No plans are the best plans :)
