Although its a year and a half old, this article is spot on. Unfortunately I dont even buy American craft beers (unless its a hefe, or dark beer) anymore because invariably its going to be hopped to all eternity. I dont do hops like that. In fact I cant. Super hoppy beers make me feel like Im gonna choke. I am all about the German and English beers when Im looking for a quality Ale or Lager because I know with near certainty that the beer will be balanced and palatable. If youre into hops and love IPA which many of my friends seem to, then good for you. Unfortunately the default for waaaay too many breweries these days is to throw as many hops as they can get their hands on into the brew to make it a craft beer. Fail. Basically the same as throwing as much paint on a palate as it can hold to make it art. That doesnt mean its well done... same goes with beer.
