Although not the best quality audience recording a couple of requests have given me the excuse I was looking for to post this extremely rare and it is the only time it was performed live. Sung immediately after Shake A Hand and since the manner of this performance suggests that it had been rehearsed and not an off the cuff moment, as was often the case, it appears this was a deliberate promotion of Elvis new album - Elvis Today. Recorded on March 13, 1975 at RCA Studio C in Hollywood, California, Pieces of My Life is one of those melancholy ballads with a powerful narrative that Elvis preferred to sing in the latter part of his career. Taken from a show in Asheville, North Carolina during the closing show of Elvis seventeenth tour, the concert also featured rare if short versions of Return To Sender, Wooden Heart and the final live version of Something as Elvis responded to an audience request. https://youtube/watch?v=lW41Vsdgjws
