Although the Apocalypse, in my opinion, is one of the most absurd stories in all of Christianity, except of course for the virgin birth, and although Gustav Mahler was an extreme religious fanatic, he seems to have grasped what I believe most Christian fanatics envisage as that pertaining to the end times, .i.e., the second coming of Jesus. Sir Simon Rattle conducts everyhing well, so this superb interpretation, and rendering of Mahlers Second Symphony (The Ressurection) comes as no surprise
