Always in his presence. We then, as workers together WITH him, - TopicsExpress

Always in his presence. We then, as workers together WITH him, beseech you also that you receive not the grace of God in vain. ( II Cor. 6:1). For 35 years I sold insurance and real estate. As an agent I worked for the company. My company had an office and I had my territory. I could contact my office as much as I wanted. My CEO was always a phone call away. He encouraged me, supported my efforts, and rallied behind me. BUT HE DIDNT GO WITH ME. For years I viewed my relationship with God as an understanding boss, much like my insurance CEO. But then I read 2 Cor. 6:1: We are Gods fellow workers NIV. Fellow workers? Co-labor ears? I dont work for God, god and I work together? What a shift in thinking this truth creates. Happy, wonderful day when we realize that we dont have to report to God, we work with God. Rather than check in with him and then leave, we check in with him and then follow. We are always in the presence of a God. We never, as my friend Johnny Long states leave church. There is never a nonsacred moment! His presence never diminishes. Our awareness of his presence may falter, but the reality of his presence never changes. What a concept, working with and not for. A servant works for the master, a son works with the master. Is it possible to live ----minute by minute--- in the presence of a God? What if our daily communion never ceased? Is such intimacy even possible? Can he be the object of my thoughts and the companion of my conversations. Can we have such an intimate relationship with God? King David seems to think so: Im an open book to you; even from a distance, you know what Im thinking. You know when I leave and when I get back; Im never out of your sight. You know everything Im going to say before I start the first sentence. I look behind me and youre there, then up ahead and youre there, too---your reassuring presence, coming and going. This is too much, too wonderful--- I cant take it all in! (Ps. 139:1-6 MSG). God wants to be as close to us as a branch is to a vine. The branch isnt connected only at the moment of bearing fruit. The gardener doesnt keep the branches in a box and then, on the day he wants grapes, glue them to the vine. No, the branch constantly draws nutrition from the vine. God does not want to be a come and go God
