Always read labels on drinks and juices! Thank you Nick for - TopicsExpress

Always read labels on drinks and juices! Thank you Nick for sharing your recent experience. Drinks can contain allergens as well and may not always be obvious. Nick recently contacted us about a plant called Echinacea which is added to some drinks and alternative type medicines. Nick said he was eating his lunch and had some fruit juice containing this plant. He immediately started feeling bloated, irritable and short of breath. Nick does have a diagnosed tree nut allergy. The juice carton only says that you should consult a healthcare professional before taking herbal substances in conjunction with prescription medication, but does not mention any side effects of the plant. A&AA would like to remind people about allergens in unexpected places. Drinks can contain other ingredients to look out for such as Nick highlighted here but also fruit like Kiwi Fruit. allergy.org.au/patients/medication-allergy/adverse-reactions-to-alternative-medicines
