Alyson (10) concluded her 2014 track season at the AAU Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa on Monday and Tuesday. While she posted no PRs (personal records) nor came home with any hardware, she competed hard and worked hard to make it this far. She competed the 3000m (1.86 miles or 7.5 laps) and the 1500m (just under a mile) and also qualified in the Long Jump (but did not participate in the LJ due to timing). In the 3000m she finished 4th in her heat of 20 runners. She ran a blistering 5:55 1500m split but could not sustain the pace during laps 5&6. She closed well and ran a 1:35 final lap but just could not put together a complete race. In the 1500m, she crossed the line at 5:52 off her normal sub 5:50 and 5:45 PR. It was a great trip and great experience for her! Alsyon has such a great work ethic and attitude...she often misses events/invites/outings with friends to train, prepare and compete...Cynthia and I are very proud of her!
