Alyssa Scudieri, Hi there! I was wondering if you could post a question for me on your page. This is my very first year hunting. My husband bought me a bow last Christmas. We live in NJ and it is very hard to find private land to hunt so we are forced to hunt public land. I am currently attending Grad school full time for my Masters in Occupational therapy. So we are trying to get by on my husbands income. Most months we barely have enough to cover rent and our bills. The majority of our hunting items have been second hand because we cant afford new hunting items right now. Since its my first season hunting, my husband sits with me because he wants to be there to experience my first deer harvest. I used my birthday money to buy us a used double ladder stand so that way we could sit together while I hunt. We went to sit in our stand today and it was stole. All that was left was our chain we used to lock up our stand (the chain was cut) and there was a cigarette bud stuck on the tree. I just dont get it. Here in Jersey, Hunters make up only 2% of the states population. One would think we would respect eachother. We face so much adversity with the Antis and all one would think that fellow hunters would at least look out for eachother. But thats not how it is here in NJ on Public land. There are so many stories of peoples stands, feeders, cams, etc getting stolen... Even with locks on them. I guess Im just curious. Is this how it is everywhere??? When hunting on public land in different states... Do things get stolen alot? Or is it just here in wonderful Jersey that some hunters act like public land belongs solely to them and will do whatever they have to to get rid of the competition. Just wanted to know other peoples side of this. THANKS!!!
