Alzheimers disease has mostly erased country legend Glen Campbell, 78, who has consequently been relegated to a 24-hour care facility, where, according to his wife (fxn.ws/1Dh9xUa), he lives, save for moments of relative lucidity, in a perpetual stage six Alzheimers fog, unable to communicate or understand anything. Last year, he released his final music video, Im Not Gonna Miss You, which intersperses clips spanning decades of his personal and public life with his medical analyses and consultations. His lyrics (cowritten with producer and friend Julian Raymond) frankly acknowledge the horror of neurodegeneration, which kills the mind while leaving the empty shell of the body behind, hurting everyone but the sufferer himself.
