Am I Wrong? I began HTMC to preserve the art and science of the hand-built tattoo machine. Each machine is built one at a time. I do not laser cut or CNC machine any of my machine components. Each machine is manually cut, machined, sanded, buffed, polished and finished as a TRUE hand-built machine should be. Every component, except simple screws and washers, is machined in-house. I am obsessed with building the absolute best machines possible. This is why I limit the number of machines I build to just twenty-five machines per month. Although I do have to make a living, I don’t build machines for the money as I could easily build twice as many machines per month. I simply build machines for the love of building and from a desire to preserve the art and science of the true hand-built tattoo machine. I do not feel a machine is truly hand-built if a builder is having their components laser cut or computer milled (CNC milled). I don’t see that as really being any different than ordering components and assembling the machines. True, the builder does still have to weld the frames but half the art is in the skill of cutting, machining (manually) and sanding the machine components…. I’m still not sure how I feel about builders who claim to “hand-build” their machines having side-plates and base-plates laser cut and CNC milled… I feel it’s a little more than simply assembling machines but a little less than hand-building. What’s your opinion?
