Am I a dick? Im an artists that doesnt expect to get paid every time I play a show...I have worked my ass off to play in front of 5 people... 10 years later the fight continues...I would love to be paid every gig. The lack of respect for LOCAL ARTISTS FROM VENUES IS SHAMEFUL- I shouldnt leave with $12 from the Venue after you just made over 1k in Liquor sales...2015 is right around the corner though and that stops when the bell drops..YOU ARE WORTH MORE THAN THEY THINK - Face charge for security...you pay them hourly right. Quit SCREWING US.. ARTIST CHALLENGE - WE MUST STAND FOR OUR RIGHTS! its not your responsibility to provide backline for the touring acts...its your job to hustle tickets and flyers... And market shit...if they ask you that then give grief or turn down the possibility of pay for equipment rental dont go back. if you are asked to go above and beyond with NO PAY - (I do it all the damn time) Dont do it to the point of being put out every time. Colorado is BEHIND in this area. The ARTS are what keep your beer flowing. If you had an iPod playing... STILL AN ARTIST SELLING YOUR BUSINESS...Getting a show isnt PAY... PAYING TO PLAY - is not a show. Buy some merch. Thats the ONLY way you can GUARANTEE $$$$ if a Promoter is not willing to FEED YOU! Without these LOCAL artists...your headliner wouldnt be playing for any crowd... Unless their name alone sells that many tickets.... PAY THESE ARTISTS FOR WHAT THEY DO.... I promise you will see a return on your investment. Especially in the ones that are out there to make this a career! If you dont see a return...At least your still the good guy or gal! I couldnt pay my artists over the weekend and that hurt... They have stood by me... Some have argued.. I argue the point of hustling merch at your shows just incase... Were not perfect... But if we do it EVERY TIME.... Then shame on me as a promoter.
