Am I the only one who finds this supremely unconvincing? A) Jenny Macklin and her party have stood shoulder to shoulder with Abbott & Co in every rotten, racist measure taken by the government this year, from anti-terrorism legislation to the dispatch of the SAS and the RAAF to Iraq. They cannot disown responsibility for the rise of Islamophobia in this country. And B) Jenny Macklin catching a bus? In Melbournes northern suburbs? Pull the other one, Macklin! Please spare us your pathetic attempts to jump on the bandwagon.
