Am I wrong in thinking that Perry Mason was better with its featuring and depiction of non-white actors? Such appearances were rare, but respectful, if I remember correctly. In one episode, which had James Hong as a good guy, a young Asian woman had inherited a distant relatives business and so she enlisted Perrys help to get things straightened out. The series also had characters played by Teru Shimada, and by a young Paul Winfield. And there was Jamaican-born Frank Silvera, seen below in The Case of the Fancy Figures, a 2nd-season episode first aired in December 1958. That one was peculiar in that he played a wealthy business man with a grownup white son.
